Microbiology and nutrient cycle laboratory

The laboratory aims to evaluate the impact of fires and the effects of different forest management techniques (selective cutting, pruning, fire prevention treatments…) in physical, chemical and microbiological parameters, and the nutrient cycle of the soil, in order to establish guidelines and guides of management to minimize their potential negative effects, and ensuring the sustainability of forest management. It also works to advise the best treatments of post-fire soil stabilization and rehabilitation of burned areas. Finally, it makes determinations of the ability of fixing carbon in forest ecosystems and their alteration by fire.
